Bekommen wir 2021 den größten Bundestag der Geschichte?
Bereits der aktuelle Bundestag ist mit 709 Abgeordneten der größte aller bislang 19 Bundestage seit 1949 (die Mindestgröße beträgt 598 Mandate). Aber nach der kommenden Bundestagswahl am 26. September 2021 könnte der neue, der dann 20. Deutsche Bundestag noch bedeutend größer ausfallen. Der Politikwissenschaftler Joachim Behnke von der Zeppelin-Universität in Friedrichshafen hat die Größe des kommenden Bundestages auf Basis der aktuellen Umfragewerte durchgerechnet – und berichtet in einem Beitrag für SPIEGEL Online davon, wie groß das neu gewählte Parlament für die nächsten vier Jahren ausfallen könnte (und was diesen weiteren Anstieg noch verhindern könnte). Der Gastbeitrag Behnkes ist hier zu finden. Robert Roßmann von der Süddeutschen Zeitung findet in einem Kommentar deutliche Worte zum Thema (hier), die Bertelsmann-Stiftung hat eigens einen „Mandaterechner“ entwickelt, mit dessen Hilfe unterschiedliche Szenarien bezüglich der zukünftigen Größe des Bundestags durchgespielt werden können. Dabei zeigt sich folgender Befund, wie die beiden Verantwortlichen, Robert Vehlkamp und Lars Bischoff, erläutern: „Das Risiko liegt dabei nicht zwischen 650 und 750 Mandaten, sondern eher zwischen 600 und mehr als 1.000 Abgeordneten. Das zeigen exemplarisch die hier vorgestellten Szenarien, die beim derzeitigen Umfragetrend zu Bundestagsgrößen zwischen 598 und 963 Mandaten führen.“ Alle Details zum Mandaterechner sind hier nachzulesen.
