Neues Projekt: mit „Brand New Bundestag“ ins Parlament
Seit langem ist in der bundesdeutschen Öffentlichkeit wie in der Parlamentsforschung bekannt, dass bestimmte Bevölkerungsgruppen im Deutschen Bundestag unterrepräsentiert sind: Frauen, Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund, Arbeiter, (sehr) junge und (sehr) alte Bürgerinnen und Bürger (jedenfalls, wenn man mit Hannah Pitkin auf die deskriptive Repräsentationsdimension schaut). Eine junge Initiative namens „Brand New Bundestag“ möchte dies ändern und unterstützt insbesondere junge Menschen bei ihrer Kandidatur für den Bundestag, unabhängig übrigens von einer konkreten Partei. Vorbild ist die US-Kongressabgordnete Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, die bei der vorletzten Wahl im November 2018 als jüngste Abgeordnete in das US-Repräsentantenhaus eingezogen war und in den parteiinternen Vorwahlen mit Joseph Crowley einen der erfahrensten und ranghöchsten Demokraten schlagen konnte. Nachdem neulich bereits der SPIEGEL über diese Initiative berichtet hatte (leider nicht frei online), hat vor einigen Tagen auch die Frankfurter Rundschau einen ausführlichen Artikel über BNB veröffentlicht, der hier nachgelesen werden kann.
