Interview: Parlamente in der Pandemie
Im Rahmen eines international vergleichenden Forschungsprojektes untersuchen Politikwissenschaftlerinnen und Politikwissenschaftler aktuell den Einfluss der Corona-Pandemie auf die Arbeit der Parlamente. Einer der Organisatoren dieses Vorhabens ist Sven T. Siefken, den der Journalist Sören Christian Reimer von der Zeitung „Das Parlament“ (Ausgabe vom 11. Juli 2022) in einem ausführlichen Gespräch zu den (vorläufigen) Befunden des Projekts befragt hat. Siefken diagnostiziert einen doppelten Schock für die Parlamente: „Bei der Pandemie hatten wir es mit einer Situation zu tun, die plötzlich auf der ganzen Welt unerwartet und fast gleichzeitig aufgetreten ist. Das hat Parlamente überall vor enorme Herausforderungen gestellt. Corona war für sie ein doppelter externer Schock: Zum einen gab es die Notwendigkeit, auf die Pandemie selbst schnell zu reagieren, um die eigene Arbeitsfähigkeit zu sichern. Zum anderen gab es den Schock für die Parlamente, dass nun die Exekutive sehr viel stärker gefragt war.“ Zu finden ist das gesamte Interview online hier.
