Reform der Semesterzeiten?
Schon im Jahre 2007 forderte die Hochschulrektorenkonferenz eine Anpassung der an bundesdeutschen Universitäten üblichen Vorlesungszeiten an den Standard, wie er aus vielen anderen Ländern bekannt ist: ein Herbst-/Wintersemester von Anfang September bis Weihnachten oder Januar sowie ein Frühlings-/Sommersemester von Anfang März bis Ende Juni. Neben der internationalen Komponente würden die Vorlesungszeiten auf diese Weise auch stärker mit den Schulferien in Deutschland harmonisiert werden, was Lehrenden und Studierenden mit (kleinen) Kindern entgegenkommen dürfte. Die Universität Mannheim praktiziert dieses Modell bereits seit längerem, nun hat auch die SPD-Fraktion im Landtag von Nordrhein-Westfalen einen entsprechenden Plan vorgelegt. Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said „You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.“ She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
